Welcome to my page!

Thank you for visiting. I am Hugh, a kiwi photographer and environmental psychology student in Canterbury, New Zealand.

I have been fortunate to have traveled with my camera and been to some amazing places, and now want to share my hard work. I am never one to take the easy route, which has seen me fall down slopes, drown a camera and carry over 15kg of camera equipment on long hikes. Such as the Tongiraro Crossing which I brought both a digital SLR and an old Bronica 120 film camera. It was worth it for the results, but does make for a long day!

Why sell your prints now? Well, I have embarked on my PhD in Environmental Psychology, with a hope that I can make a positive impact on the problems facing New Zealanders. My work so far has been on Kauri dieback mitigation efforts. I am surviving on the PhD Scholarship, but it does not give me the funds to do much landscape or travel photography.

This is where you can help: Buy a print for your home or office. Not only do you get a high quality artwork, but you'll both support an environmentally minded scientist and allow a kiwi artist keep capturing our beautiful and unique landscapes.

We do not always appreciate what we have, not only in New Zealand, but on our planet. As Ansel Adams is quoted as saying "The camera is an instrument that teaches people how to see without a camera." Through my art, I hope you can see the beauty that we are lucky enough to have all around us, and strive to protect it.
